Things to do in and around Stratford on Avon

There are 5 properties directly linked to William Shakespeare situated in and around Stratford, the best way to see all of these is by using the Open-top bus tour of Stratford which departs every 30 minutes from outside the Tourist Information Centre, this is a ‘hop-on, hop-off’ service which visits 13 stops which are points of interest in the town, during the summer there is also a guide on board.

Also recommended is a visit to

Coughton Court
which is where the Gun powder plot was hatched, it is approximately 9 miles from Stratford and there is a bus service available.

For information on the bus services in the area call Traveline on .

For other ideas check the Shakespeare Country website – – which is full of information on what to do in the area.  The most popular attractions are Warwick Castle , the Shakespeare properties and the theatre.  Also worth visiting are the Cotswold towns of Broadway, Chipping Campden and Stow on the Wold which are very beautiful.

Conference delegates can also contact the Shakespeare Country team on by telephone or pay a visit to the Tourist Information Centre whilst they are in the area.  They offer discount tickets to many local attractions which can be bought in advance by phone or in person.

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) are showing Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Taming of the Shrew during your visit – tickets can be purchased from Shakespeare Country by calling or more details are available at www.rsc.org.uk
