Modern Ways of Communication with PROFINET IO
Synopsis:
The Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) has been defined to identify redundant communication paths in Ethernet communication. In case of a change in the communication paths RSTP is responsible to detect the new communication paths. In the best case the reconfiguration of the network lasts several 100 ms up to several seconds. This behaviour doesn´t meet the requirements of the plant owners in the factory automation. Therefore it was necessary to define an extension to the RSTP standard. The result is the Media Redundancy protocol for PROFINET IO.
The second part of the presentation explains the concept of the very convenient replacement of a faulty field devices and get into operation with it. No additional tools or programming devices are necessary.
Highlights:
Media Redundancy for TCP/IP-Frames
Media Redundancy for Real Time communication and bumpless switchover
Neighbourhood recognition
Device exchange without any additional programming devices
Target audience:
The presentation is targeted to plant owners/end users
