The new sector standard IEC 62061 – Safety of machinery: Functional safety of safety-related electrical, electronic and programmable electronic control systems is based on the basic standard IEC 61508 and is a best fit to the new PROFIsafe communication technology and correlated combined systems and devices. It takes care of the whole life cycle of safety facilities, beginning with the risk analysis and ending with the safety assessment of a chosen configuration. This presentation is showing via an example, how the customer can proceed along this standard and what the difference is to his current approach with relay technology.
