User Benefits of the Fieldbus Profile Concept

A device Profile is a standardization of the device from a network point of view for the purpose of data exchange, configuration and functionality. This concept is still relatively new and not yet very well understood. Profiles offer tremendous benefits to the end user. This article explains the Profile concept and, using an example, demonstrates how Profiles will benefit the end user. The presentation would include a demonstration of interchangeability which is one of the key benefits of profiles.
